The media has already dismissed her comments as "negative, nasty campaigning", but the public has to know the truth : Sarah Palin is right to link Barack Obama with terrorist groups.
Yesterday, in Colorado, she told Republican donors that Senator Obama "is not a man who sees America as you and I do - as the greatest force for good in the world", accusing him of being "someone who sees America as imperfect enough to pal around with terrorists"."
Seizing on a New York Times account on Saturday of the relationship between Senator Obama and terrorist William Ayers, Mrs Palin said:
"There's been a lot of interest in what I read lately". Well, I was reading my copy of today's New York Times, and I was really interested to read about Barack's friends from Chicago. Turns out, one of his earliest supporters is a man who, according to The New York Times, was a domestic terrorist and part of a group that, quote, 'launched a campaign of bombings that would target the Pentagon and the US Capitol'."
Palin's comments were a reference to Obama's association with Bill Ayers, one of the founders of the leftwing Weather Underground group, which engaged in anti-establishment activities during the Vietnam war era.
The group claimed responsibility for about a dozen bombings and targeted the Pentagon, the US Capitol and other buildings. He went into hiding for a decade after three people were killed when a bomb exploded, but charges against him were dropped.
Bill Ayers, who has confessed to domestic bombings as a member of this group, has remained unrepentant about his actions. Once asked if he regretted his terrorist ways, his response was that he felt "we didn't do enough." However, he has been rehabilitated in the eyes of many Chicago political and civic leaders, including Obama.
In the ensuing years he has become a tenured professor of education and informal adviser to the Mayor of Chicago, Richard Daley, on school reform. He has been a neighbour of Senator Obama in the Hyde Park area of Chicago, hosting a gathering for him when Senator Obama was a candidate for the state Senate in 1995. The two also served together on a non-profit board that distributed educational grants in the city.
So the two men know each other very well, and Obama cannot deny it !
However, he has denounced Mr Ayers's actions in the 1960s and 1970s, and has described him as "a guy who lives in my neighbourhood" . He said the two did not exchange ideas on a regular basis.
Obama's arguments are thus far from convincing !
Sarah Palin launched this powerful attack while John McCain had decided to spend the week-end on his ranch to prepare the second presidential debate which is due to take place on Tuesday. Sarah Palin proved a to be a very good campaigner on Saturday, and we notice she seems to give McCain's campaign a new boost, as Republicans have accused him of not being aggressive enough lately...
Sarah Palin in campaign on Saturday : at last, Republicans are waking up and telling the truth about Obama !
But, in reality, Sarah Palin's comments are revealing a new determination by the McCain campaign to try to regain momentum by painting Senator Obama as a radical out of touch with Main Street.
"It's a revealing flash point of Barack Obama's failed judgment and out-of-the-mainstream values," said a McCain campaign spokesman, Tucker Bounds.
On several occasions, we have said here on this blog that Obama has got troubling connections in his personal life and past : Tony Rezko ; Jeremiah Wright ; William Ayers.
It is strange, but a lot of converging facts seem to associate him with radical groups or individuals, and that could maybe explain why he seems so willing to discuss with radical world leaders like the Iranian president Ahmadinejad.
But the question is : where will America be led if he becomes president ?
Does he intend to sell his country to radical terrorist groups ?
Even the world may be worried, given the fact that America is the world's first superpower, and the first military power.
What will happen to us if Obama is elected, and America falls into the hands of those who have wished to destroy it for many many years, and who have partly already succeeded ?
Remember September the eleventh 2001 ?
So thank you Mrs Palin for trying to warn Americans before it is too late !
