Nothing but an illusion...

Yes, it's true, it's a beautiful story...

A story which should make us feel happy...
A story that we should celebrate...

Yes it's true, normally, I should have been one of the first to enjoy such a  historical moment.

Loving America, its history, its civilisation, as much as I do, I should have joined the atmosphere of euphoria created by this extraordinary event : the election of a Black American, 54 years only after the Supreme Court's ruling, Brown v. Topeka, which established that segregation at school was contrary to the Constitution, therefore paving the way for desegregation in all other public places and all aspects of daily life.

Yes, the story is wonderful, remarkable, admirable.
And in this depressing world, made of crises, conflicts, tears, it is undoubtedly something that could cheer you up...

Yes, we have the feeling that everything is going to start anew, to be right again, that the world is going to undergo a kind of "catharsis", following the steps of an American society which has redeemed itself by doing this symbolic move : putting an African-Américan in the Oval Office. Centuries of racism have been deleted. Sins have been paid for.

Yes, I agree : this is an unprecedented message of hope, to see all these different voters, Whites, Hispanics, Asians, Indians, unite with the black community in order to elect one of them.

Yes, I, would have been intoxicated with happiness too if an African-American hero like Martin Luther King, or Booker T. Washington, had achieved this American dream.

But I really can't enjoy this historical moment as I should, today.

Because this man is called Barack Obama.

And because I know who he is really, what he has done, I know it does  not make sense to introduce him as the Saviour, the Messiah, the one who would be able to rejuvenate the planet, as the Pilgrim Fathers did in 1620, when they fled to America because of persecution, far away from European divisions and corruption, to create a new world.

Yes, I can assert that the idea of a providential man saving the whole world, is, alas, nothing but an illusion.

And I am going to try to explain you why...
